Our roots, where we came from

Early beginnings:

This was found during an archeological dig in the basement of Mich House. it was an entry taken from the Mich House sin steward notes...

"An idea that flourished in the summer of '89 was the "Beer Coop". A small number of members donated money every week for beer, which was purchased by the beer steward and sampled by all the shareholders at Friday dinner. Generally a theme dominated every week; German beers, Canadian beers, beers in funny colored bottles, etc. After each shareholder had sampled the brew, a review would be read from a popular guide. The beer coop suffered during Fall term, as stress from classes dulled enthusiam. However, it was an excellent concept; keep it in mind."

- Tony Winkler, January 14, 1991

Although the "Beer Co-op" had been forgotten by the time the Brewers' Co-op started, the 1998 discovery of this item instilled a sense of pride and confidence that Mich House was a fertile ground for our ventures.

Constitutional Convention Minutes:

We also have a rather detailed copy of the original minutes from the NSBC constitutional convention. This is when the co-op was born, the creation meeting. Of course, this was preceeded by an exhibition brewing session where we gathered and decided to do something dumb like this. These were both followed about a week later by a 3-person committeed to write up the bylaws.
