This beer would go best with simple foods; breads, cheese, and fresh fruit. I would not serve with the main meal. I might be tempted to use this as a dessert beer, due to the fruit flavors present in it. I was disappointed that this beer was not as crisp as other Belgian ales I have tried. Never heard of the brewer; perhaps this is just Whole Foods' "House" brew? Best served cold. |

overall it's fairly balanced and nice. i'd shoot for lowering bitterness, increasing spice and increasing or avoiding pumpkin-maybe try in a mash next time instead of boil. there is a lot of room for experimentation in the coming years. try spice in secondary as well! |

This is a beer that is very easy to drink, and encourages you to sit down and have a meal, too. What keeps this beer from top honors is the lack of strong pumpkin flavor. Yes, you can tell this is a pumpkin ale, but not overtly so. An excellent choice to accompany holiday leftovers. |

This is a great beer that I will be proud to share with my friends for the holidays. If I were to do this again, I'd add more pumpkin and spice flavors, but overall - yeah. |

This rare find is not to be missed. Wow, this is the source from which they make all other beers. They simply add water, and you get stout, or allow it to ferment for another few years, and you have barleywine. This is an excellent beer that has instantly jumped to one of my favorites. |

The first in the Gospel acording to Avery Brewing Company located in Boulder, Colorado, Hog Heaven is a DANGEROUSLY drinkable Barleywine. The deep russet color and immense hop nose set the stage for the remarkable flavors which lie within. The blending of specialty malts & American hops virtually explode upon the palate, prompting a huge grin! Highly recommend only for the Brave. |

This is a great beer. Perhaps even very true to style, but then I would have to rate this my 3rd favorite style after whatever style Two-Hearted, Liberty, and the Arrogance fall into, and barley wines. |

I solid european lager. The novelty of drinking the beer that is known elsewhere as Budweiser elevates the rating as well. |

has a weird spirit. It's ultimately bitter, but rather narrow about that. There are hop leaves in the bottom. I dunno - if I were being invaded by the British, and they handed this to me to drink, I wouldn't let them take over peacefully. |

I don't get it. Avery's other offerings that I've tried have been solid. Why did they sell out with this IPA that is really just a solid Pale Ale in disguise? |

This beer really defies style so I placed it in the category I did. Incredible. At a whopping 7.2% ABV this beer takes you over the edge in style. If Bud is the "King of Beers" this is the "Dictator of Beers" ruling with an iron fist! Incredible. |
