163 Willie New Holland Brewery Dragon's Milk 24. SPECIALTY, EXPERIMENTAL, HISTORICAL 12/30/05 44 This is an excellent beer, and I regret not having bought as many as I could find.
162 Guest Silver Jubilee Belgian Style Farmhouse 19A. Belgian Pale Ale 12/15/05 35 This beer would go best with simple foods; breads, cheese, and fresh fruit. I would not serve with the main meal. I might be tempted to use this as a dessert beer, due to the fruit flavors present in it. I was disappointed that this beer was not as crisp as other Belgian ales I have tried. Never heard of the brewer; perhaps this is just Whole Foods' "House" brew? Best served cold.
161 AaronLi 2005 NSBC pumpkin ale 22. SPICE / HERB / VEGETABLE BEER 12/03/05 29 overall it's fairly balanced and nice. i'd shoot for lowering bitterness, increasing spice and increasing or avoiding pumpkin-maybe try in a mash next time instead of boil. there is a lot of room for experimentation in the coming years. try spice in secondary as well!
160 Guest NSBC Pumpkin Ale, 2005 22. SPICE / HERB / VEGETABLE BEER 12/02/05 40 This is a beer that is very easy to drink, and encourages you to sit down and have a meal, too. What keeps this beer from top honors is the lack of strong pumpkin flavor. Yes, you can tell this is a pumpkin ale, but not overtly so. An excellent choice to accompany holiday leftovers.
159 Willie NSBC Pumpkin Ale, 2005 22. SPICE / HERB / VEGETABLE BEER 12/02/05 39 This is a great beer that I will be proud to share with my friends for the holidays. If I were to do this again, I'd add more pumpkin and spice flavors, but overall - yeah.
157 Guest asdf 8C. Northern German Altbier 07/13/03 18
156 Willie Aaron Linder's Apple Cyser 25C. Cyser (Apple Melomel) 11/10/02 40 this is what I would imagine when I think of apple cyser. Not that apple gasoline crap that I dished out last year. - Very good job Aaron.
155 Guest Original Brown Ale 10D. American Brown Ale 10/09/02 36
154 AaronLi willie's 10/01 cider, wild yeast ferment 26C. Specialty Cider And Perry 07/18/02 40 willie has created a nice, wild cider that is dry, clear and wonderful. it's a winner
153 AaronLi Bell's Batch 5000 23B. Other Smoked Beer 07/18/02 40 this is a wonderful beer, full of smoke and malt and tastiness. it could be improved possibly by a bit more dryness and maybe a little more hop bittering.
152 Willie Bell's Batch 5000 12B. American-Style Barleywine 07/18/02 42 this is one damn unique beer. I'm glad that I've got another 6-pack stored away for aging.
151 Guest Bell's Batch 5000 12B. American-Style Barleywine 07/18/02 36 Alittle smokey for my taste.
150 Willie the American Cream Clones Strike Back 3C. Cream Ale 06/18/02 46 that's a great fucking beer. I wish I could buy this year-round at the store... well, I guess i only have 10 more to go. It's great, but it still could be better. I'll have to make this recipe again.
149 Guest Yuengling 1A. Light / Standard / Premium 06/07/02 49 i love it
148 Willie Founder's American Black Ale 12B. American-Style Barleywine 05/17/02 47 This rare find is not to be missed. Wow, this is the source from which they make all other beers. They simply add water, and you get stout, or allow it to ferment for another few years, and you have barleywine. This is an excellent beer that has instantly jumped to one of my favorites.
147 Guest Hog Heaven 12B. American-Style Barleywine 05/14/02 45 The first in the Gospel acording to Avery Brewing Company located in Boulder, Colorado, Hog Heaven is a DANGEROUSLY drinkable Barleywine. The deep russet color and immense hop nose set the stage for the remarkable flavors which lie within. The blending of specialty malts & American hops virtually explode upon the palate, prompting a huge grin! Highly recommend only for the Brave.
146 Guest spaten dunkel weisse 17A. Bavarian Weizen 05/12/02 43
145 Willie Bell's Two-Hearted 7. INDIA PALE ALE 04/30/02 43 This is one of my all-time favorite beers. For all those Europeans that front on American brews, I say - try this, bitch!
144 Willie Dark Horse Tres - Blueberry Stout 16B. Sweet Stout 04/21/02 39 This is rather interesting beer - i would highly reccomend tasting it, though it's not outstanding, it's worth tasting this for the sole fact that they make blueberry beer taste good.

136 ScottH Anchor Porter 15A. Robust Porter 04/04/02 36 Ah right, it's an Anchor Steam. No mistaking it...

125 James Old Foghorn 12B. American-Style Barleywine 04/04/02 40 Good, not terribly extreme for a barley wine.
124 Guest Third Coast Old Ale 12B. American-Style Barleywine 04/04/02 38
123 Willie Third Coast Old Ale 12B. American-Style Barleywine 04/04/02 33 It's a decent beer, but there is something going on here that doesn't taste at all like a barley wine.
122 Jenni Old Foghorn 12B. American-Style Barleywine 04/04/02 48
121 Willie Old Foghorn 12B. American-Style Barleywine 04/04/02 46 I feel like I've got lamp oil in my throat. This one is great.
120 ScottZ Third Coast Old Ale 12B. American-Style Barleywine 04/04/02 45
119 ScottZ Old Foghorn 12B. American-Style Barleywine 04/04/02 45
118 Deniz Shakespeare Stout 16C. Oatmeal Stout 04/04/02 42 Bitter hops, but good flavor and texture.
117 Deniz Olde Poet Stout 16C. Oatmeal Stout 04/04/02 47 Nice, smooth, mild but flavorful.
116 Deniz Bell's Porter 15A. Robust Porter 04/04/02 34 Like honey, alcohol, no hops, no roast. sucks.

114 Willie Shakespeare Stout 16C. Oatmeal Stout 04/04/02 32 it's OK, but something is off

112 Jenni Olde Poet Stout 16C. Oatmeal Stout 04/04/02 45
111 Willie Olde Poet Stout 16C. Oatmeal Stout 04/04/02 40 nice roasted malt flavor
110 ScottZ Shakespeare Stout 16C. Oatmeal Stout 04/04/02 34
109 ScottZ Olde Poet Stout 16C. Oatmeal Stout 04/04/02 40 good balance of smoothness and flavor. smokey
108 Ken Hop Ottin' IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 04/04/02 33 sometimes hard to nail down but more often pleasing than not. A warm weatehr drink good with spicy and best enjoyed outdoors.
107 Deniz MBC High Seas IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 04/04/02 41 very strong hops, a bit bitter.
106 Deniz Hop Ottin' IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 04/04/02 44 Well balanced, nice. Not as strong as the other, though,
105 Matt MBC High Seas IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 04/04/02 46
104 Matt Hop Ottin' IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 04/04/02 37
103 ScottZ MBC High Seas IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 04/04/02 45 well balanced, extremely drinkable and enjoyable

101 Jenni Hop Ottin' IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 04/04/02 37
100 ScottZ Hop Ottin' IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 04/04/02 34
99 Willie MBC High Seas IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 04/04/02 47 this tastes great, but doesn't get my full points, as it doesn't feel that it follows through all the way.
98 James MBC High Seas IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 04/04/02 44 A very good IPA. Excellent.
97 Willie Hop Ottin' IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 04/04/02 37 this is a decent tasting beer. I like it, but it is *weak* when in comparison to the next one in competition.
96 James Hop Ottin' IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 04/04/02 32 A poor man's IPA. Or more appropriately an IPA your girlfriend would like.
95 Matt Anchor Porter 15A. Robust Porter 04/04/02 40
94 James Anchor Porter 15A. Robust Porter 04/04/02 39 Good, unique, but my for this beer has waned quite a bit.
93 Matt Bell's Porter 15A. Robust Porter 04/04/02 42
92 James Bell's Porter 15A. Robust Porter 04/04/02 47 Fantastic. An orgasmic experience.
91 ScottZ Bell's Porter 15A. Robust Porter 04/04/02 46
90 Jenni Anchor Porter 15A. Robust Porter 04/04/02 27 offtaste, sour/acidic
89 ScottZ Anchor Porter 15A. Robust Porter 04/04/02 40 very drinkable
88 Jenni Bell's Porter 15A. Robust Porter 04/04/02 43 good hops and balance
87 Deniz Arcadia ESB 4C. Strong Bitter / English Pale Ale 04/04/02 41 A bit too strong for my taste. Not enough variety in flavors. Kind of boring and aftertaste strong. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to be.
86 Willie Anchor Porter 15A. Robust Porter 04/04/02 38 it's a decent beer with a lot of complex flavors, but just doesn't stand up to the other in this pair
85 Deniz Red Hook ESB 4C. Strong Bitter / English Pale Ale 04/04/02 41 Nicer flavor over the long haul. Malty.
84 Willie Bell's Porter 15A. Robust Porter 04/04/02 47 I'd forgotten this beer, it is wonderful
83 Deniz Sierra Nevada Pale Ale 6A. American Pale Ale 04/04/02 39 Pleasant, mild. A bit weak but good flavor. I wouldn't mind a sixpack of it but it's not angelic.
82 Matt Sierra Nevada Pale Ale 6A. American Pale Ale 04/04/02 45
81 Matt Great Lakes Burning River 6A. American Pale Ale 04/04/02 30
80 Deniz Great Lakes Burning River 6A. American Pale Ale 04/04/02 40 Strong, pleasant beer. Fiery.

77 Damon Great Lakes Burning River 6A. American Pale Ale 04/04/02 41
76 Jenni Sierra Nevada Pale Ale 6A. American Pale Ale 04/04/02 39 light, fruity
75 Willie Sierra Nevada Pale Ale 6A. American Pale Ale 04/04/02 31 they tried, but fell short on this one
74 Jenni Red Hook ESB 6A. American Pale Ale 04/04/02 19 too dark and mildewy
73 Willie Great Lakes Burning River 6A. American Pale Ale 04/04/02 39
72 James Great Lakes Burning River 6A. American Pale Ale 04/04/02 44 Near top of the line Pale. Very good.
71 ScottZ Sierra Nevada Pale Ale 6A. American Pale Ale 04/04/02 39
70 James Sierra Nevada Pale Ale 6A. American Pale Ale 04/04/02 42 Pretty average pale ale. Not spectacular.
69 ScottZ Great Lakes Burning River 6A. American Pale Ale 04/04/02 27
68 Matt Arcadia ESB 4C. Strong Bitter / English Pale Ale 04/04/02 37
67 AaronLi MBC Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 30 nice sour flavor, somewhat atringent in good way, light color, mildly cloudy. very enjoyable balance.
66 Matt Red Hook ESB 4C. Strong Bitter / English Pale Ale 04/04/02 27
65 Willie Arcadia ESB 4C. Strong Bitter / English Pale Ale 04/04/02 40 this is the beer that I fell in love with all those years ago, I'd never miss it. It's a great ESB style.
64 Willie Red Hook ESB 4C. Strong Bitter / English Pale Ale 04/04/02 27 decent beer, but not impressive next to this other ESB.
63 AaronLi Widmer Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 21 Nice aroma and color but low on flavor
62 Jenni MBC Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 33 nice finish, citrus
61 Jenni Widmer Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 26 bland, bad finish
60 Jenni Arcadia ESB 4C. Strong Bitter / English Pale Ale 04/04/02 23 bad aftertaste
59 Jenni Red Hook ESB 4C. Strong Bitter / English Pale Ale 04/04/02 34

57 Damon Arcadia ESB 4C. Strong Bitter / English Pale Ale 04/04/02 38
56 ScottZ Red Hook ESB 4C. Strong Bitter / English Pale Ale 04/04/02 26
55 Damon Red Hook ESB 4C. Strong Bitter / English Pale Ale 04/04/02 30
54 James Red Hook ESB 4C. Strong Bitter / English Pale Ale 04/04/02 30 Just a poor beer.
53 Deniz MBC Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 27 Cyderish, not like a wheat beer should be. Absence of head is notable. Weak flavor and aroma in general. Wouldn't ever drink it with a meal.
52 James Arcadia ESB 4C. Strong Bitter / English Pale Ale 04/04/02 39 Pretty good ESB.
51 Deniz Widmer Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 37 Good wheat beer with strong flavor, a bit too bitter and carbonated.
50 James MBC Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 36 Good solid hefeweizen.
49 James Widmer Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 28 A poor hefeweissen. I don't recommand it.
48 Damon MBC Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 40
47 Damon Widmer Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 28
46 Matt MBC Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 31
45 Willie MBC Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 41 now this is a real wheat beer, true to style, though I'm still not a big fan
44 Matt Widmer Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 24 Looked like a good, cloudy heffeweizen, but lacked aroma and punch.
43 Willie Widmer Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 33 OK beer, but not a traditional wheat style
42 ScottZ MBC Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 35 enjoybale, original
41 Aaron MBC Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 46 Great!
40 ScottZ Widmer Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 33 very smooth, clean
39 ScottH MBC Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 12
38 Aaron Widmer Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 36 A little disappointing.
37 ScottH Widmer Wheat 17A. Bavarian Weizen 04/04/02 27
36 Aaron Bell's Java Stout 24. SPECIALTY, EXPERIMENTAL, HISTORICAL 04/02/02 45 This is an incredible beer and, in my opinion, the best of Larry Bell's "Ten Stouts of November!" Buy it before it's gone. Who knows what he'll do next year?
35 James Bell's Batch 5000 23B. Other Smoked Beer 04/01/02 43 A very interesting beer. Perhaps a little overly smoked, but still very well done. Definitely not something to give your date...unless it's some skanky blind date.
34 Willie Anchor Old Foghorn 12B. American-Style Barleywine 03/29/02 41 This is an interesting barley wine. Different, though fits the category well. It's got some interesting aftertaste flavors that make this one a "gotta-try". I'm sure that aging it would only improve the complexity
33 Willie Founder's Dirty Bastard 5B. Heavy 70 03/29/02 44 Makes me re-evaluate this style to truly be related to Scotch Whisky. Warm and tingly while still tasting really good. I immediately add this to my list of beers to reccomend.
32 Willie MBC IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 03/18/02 39 This is a great beer. Perhaps even very true to style, but then I would have to rate this my 3rd favorite style after whatever style Two-Hearted, Liberty, and the Arrogance fall into, and barley wines.
31 James Czechvar 2A. Bohemian Pilsner 03/07/02 38 I solid european lager. The novelty of drinking the beer that is known elsewhere as Budweiser elevates the rating as well.
30 Willie Burton Empire IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 03/04/02 28 has a weird spirit. It's ultimately bitter, but rather narrow about that. There are hop leaves in the bottom. I dunno - if I were being invaded by the British, and they handed this to me to drink, I wouldn't let them take over peacefully.
29 James New Holland Green Hornet 1C. Classic American Pilsner 03/03/02 36 I'm not a big fan of the Pilsner style, but this is definitely one of the better ones.
28 Willie Bell's Batch 5000 24. SPECIALTY, EXPERIMENTAL, HISTORICAL 02/26/02 45 this beer kicks ass - I'll probably go pick up several more 6-packs as this was plenty worth my $14.
27 James Avery Brewing Hog Heaven 12B. American-Style Barleywine 02/21/02 46 Top of the line barley wine. I can't tell you how many BWs I've been turned off by being excessively sweet. This one is just excellent.
26 Willie Sam Adam's Pale Ale 6A. American Pale Ale 02/19/02 28 hmm well it's a decent beer, but not worth writing home about. Probably best consumed right after mowing the lawn.
25 Aaron NSBC Barleywine 2001 12B. American-Style Barleywine 02/11/02 23 Disappointing. Too sweet. We'll have to try again.
24 Aaron Cantillion Kriek Lambic 20C. Fruit Lambic-Style Ale 02/06/02 45 An incredible beer in every capacity!
23 Willie NSBC Belgian 19A. Belgian Pale Ale 02/05/02 26 I don't think this will win any awards, but on the other hand, I'll probably consume my whole 6-pack. This is a weird concoction... perhaps it needs more fermentation time in the bottle.
22 Willie Golden Promise Ale 5B. Heavy 70 01/31/02 44 This is an excellent beer. I love my fiancee for tracking this down. I will probably try to buy plenty more of this in the future.
21 Aaron Stone B.C. Smoked Porter 23B. Other Smoked Beer 01/18/02 43 A well-done beer. Nearly prefect for a smoked porter. Not overdone.
20 James Avery IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 01/14/02 27 I don't get it. Avery's other offerings that I've tried have been solid. Why did they sell out with this IPA that is really just a solid Pale Ale in disguise?
19 Aaron Arrogant Bastard Ale 24. SPECIALTY, EXPERIMENTAL, HISTORICAL 01/13/02 43 This beer really defies style so I placed it in the category I did. Incredible. At a whopping 7.2% ABV this beer takes you over the edge in style. If Bud is the "King of Beers" this is the "Dictator of Beers" ruling with an iron fist! Incredible.
18 Willie Sam Adams Pale Ale 6A. American Pale Ale 01/11/02 20 I don't think that I would buy this beer again, unless I was at a bar and really jonesing for a brew, and all I had to choose from were macro-brews. It's at least drinkable though.
17 Willie Caledonian Double Dark Ale 5B. Heavy 70 01/10/02 40 It's a pretty tasty beer, though a little lighter than what I expected. My recollection of other Scottish Ales were much richer in the malty area, though this tastes rather good.
16 Guest Paulaner 17A. Bavarian Weizen 01/08/02 27 One of the best Hefe-Weizen out there second only perhaps to Schneider Aventinus
15 Guest Rogue Chocolate Stout 16B. Sweet Stout 01/02/02 44 Overall this is a great beer for a really cold day and after a meal. Especially accompanied by a double-layered chocolate cake one should be satisfied.
14 Aaron Tuppers' Hop Pocket Ale 6A. American Pale Ale 12/30/01 38 There is very little about this beer I don't like. It's not quite as refreshing as many pale ales (and, because of that, almost makes it an IPA), but is still a solid beer that certainly conforms to my personal tastes better than most pale ales I encount
13 Willie samichlaus 24. SPECIALTY, EXPERIMENTAL, HISTORICAL 12/18/01 38 pretty damn interesting beer for a holiday over the top brew.
12 Willie Stone Brewing Company IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 12/15/01 46 This has got to be my new favorite beer.
11 James La Fin Du Monde (Unibroue) 18A. Dubbel 12/12/01 44 Great Belgian Trippel. It may be at the top of it's class. There's nothing I can really say bad about it. Just a fantastic beer.
10 Willie MBC Doppelbock 14C. Doppelbock 12/11/01 43 this is a grand beer.
9 Aaron Stone B.C. IPA 7. INDIA PALE ALE 12/08/01 40 A great beer and one of the better IPA's I've had (top 5). A true west coast American IPA!
8 Willie MBC Screamin' Pumpkin 22. SPICE / HERB / VEGETABLE BEER 12/06/01 45 I don't know what I would want better, but I feel it's bad luck to give anything a straight 10.
7 Willie Cherish Peach 20C. Fruit Lambic-Style Ale 12/04/01 38 it's a decent lambic with an excellent peach flavor, but I think that my search continues
6 James Bell's Best Brown Ale 10D. American Brown Ale 12/03/01 36 A solid Brown Ale. Certainly not at the top of its class but a very respectable beer.
5 James Samichlaus Bier 14C. Doppelbock 12/01/01 32 An interesting beer. Certainly something any beer snob has to buy. Will I buy it again? Probably not.
4 James Portland Brewing Co's Bolly Dazzler 11A. Old Ale 12/01/01 34 An extemely lame holiday beer. Making an OE for a holiday beer seems stupid. PBC seems to think they could make sense of it by putting a jolly fat English guy on the label but this beer doesn't remind me of the holidays at all. Maybe I should read mor
3 Willie NSBC Ginger Holiday Spiced Ale 2001 24. SPECIALTY, EXPERIMENTAL, HISTORICAL 11/29/01 37 pretty decent beer. It's not quite what I remember the previous batch to taste like, but it's good. Of course, 3 weeks after bottling is a bit early, I expect this to be solid for the holidays.
2 Willie Steenbrugge tripel 18C. Belgian Strong Golden Ale 11/26/01 39 rather good beer doesn't seem balanced somehow - perhaps because I don't drink many tripels.
1 Willie nsbc cyser 2000 25C. Cyser (Apple Melomel) 11/25/01 35 drinkable yet not for everyone. This thing has mellowed over time and should be great for entering to contests next year.
